I’m sure the word oil definitely freaks out all those who are health conscious but here we are talking about oil that’s good for your health.

So, what is fish oil?

Fish oil is the oils from fish (duh) which is rich in two important Omega 3 fatty acids. Omega 3 Fish Oil supplementation can decrease your risk for all of these ailments and increase your longevity,  they are that important!

Fish oil has a long list of benefits, I’ll go through a few of them:

1. IF YOU WANT A HEALTHY HEART

Fish oil is a great source of omega 3 and therefore, reduces the risk of heart diseases. It also lowers the level of bad cholesterol (LDL), and increases the level of good cholesterol (HDL).Thus, fish oil is effective in preventing strokes and regular usage of fish oil can help avoid sudden cardiac death.

2. LOSING WEIGHT

A weight-loss diet which includes a regular amount of fish consumption can be quite effective. In a research conducted, volunteers who were given fish oil in their diet showed greater weight loss as compared to those who did not regularly consume fish oil.

3. IMPROVES YOUR IMMUNITY

It is found that regular consumption of fish oil aids in boosting your immune system, thereby enabling you to resist the chances of getting a common disease like colds, coughs and the flu.

4. HELPS COMBAT DEPRESSION AND ANXIETY

Fish oil plays an important role in relieving depression, sadness, anxiety, restlessness, mental fatigue, stress, suicidal tendencies and other nervous disorders. A research conducted on prisoners has shown that when prisoners were given sea food containing higher amount of omega-3 fatty acids, there was a significant drop in the homicide rate and the frequency of violence.

5. HAIR AND SKIN CARE

Fish oil enhances the lustre of your hair. Omega three has properties that helps faster hair growth and prevents hair loss. Since most fish are rich in protein, eating fish helps in keeping hair health. Omega-3 found in fish oil has growth stimulating properties, since it provides nourishment to the follicles.

Fish oil is great for improving the condition of dry skin by making it shiny and vibrant. Regular consumption of fish oil helps in reducing moisture loss from the skin.

Fish oil has a vast number of benefits which cannot be ignored. Hwo much should you take? Well, One gram of fish oil each day is better than nothing, but probably won’t lead to significant health improvements. That said, the upper end of intake is still to be determined.
